Tegan Oetker
Tegan is the daughter of Matthew and Stephanie Oetker.
Some of the adjectives used to describe Tegan include kind, driven, diligent, respectful and enthusiastic. As a volunteer with thae Nature Connection, Tegan impressed organizers with her work ethic and a “mindset for success.”
Tegan served as the North Fork student council president for three years, was a member of the National Honor Society, and was a wing/shooting guard on the Hotchkiss High varsity girls basketball team. She obtained an academic letter each year as well as a varsity basketball letter. She also made the dean’s list of Colorado Northwestern College.
As a volunteer for the American Legion, Tegan helped to run weekly bingo and serve Thanksgiving dinner. She also served as a youth group leader at Saddle Mountain Fellowship. She worked as a summer camp counselor for the Nature Connection for three summers running, where she helped kids develop leadership skills. She also held a job at Stop and Save during her busy junior year of high school.
Tegan’s love for kids has led her to pursue a career in pediatric nursing. She plans to attend Northern Arizona University to obtain her bachelor’s in nursing and is confident that her work ethic and her determination will see her through to the other side so that she can pursue her lifelong dream of working closely with kids.

Milo Chavez
Milo is the son of Steve and Jenni Chavez
Milo is ranked in the top 15% of his class and has a solid work ethic that he demonstrated as volunteer creating trails for the North Fork community. Milo is noted by his teachers as one of the most promising graduates of the class of 2023 and is as an excellent writer. His ambitions are pointing him to a career in biochemistry.
With a cumulative grade point average of 3.89 and one of the highest SAT scores in his graduating class, Milo is serious about his education. His favorite quote concerning education is from Malcolm X, and states that those who pursue education will shape and mold the future.
Milo played soccer for junior varsity and ran on the varsity cross-country team for three years. He was on the climbing team for two years. As a well-rounded student, Milo also participated in show choir for two years. He kept busy as an employee of the North Fork Pool and created trails for the community with the Wilderbunch trail crew in the summers of 2019 and 2021.
As a student who lived his high school career during the pandemic, Milo is determined to work toward eradicating the possibility of a repeat performance by the next unknown virus. He plans to study virology as a major in biochemistry and is headed to Fort Lewis College in Durango in the fall. He has respect for the past and hope for the future and claims that his motivation for pursuing a course of study to combat foes like COVID-19 comes from a desire to have a positive influence on his community and the world.

Malachi is known by his teachers as a top student with an excellent work ethic and a proficiency for mathematics and science. More importantly, states his mathematics teacher Kyser Seany, he understands what it means to be a lifelong learner, is an independent thinker and takes the time to learn material for the sake of improving his own knowledge, rather than for the purpose of earning a letter grade.
However, with an impressive cumulative grade point average of 4.20, and a host of advanced placement courses under his belt already, Malachi is sure to make a name for himself at the University of Wyoming where he plans to attend classes next fall.
In addition to his academic achievements, Malachi played four years of varsity football on both sides of the ball. He also participated in varsity wrestling where he placed first at regionals his junior year and second at regionals his senior year. In addition, he served on the student committee representing Paonia High School in the proposed merge of Hotchkiss and Paonia.
Malachi was voted by faculty and staff alike to receive one of the Top Two Seniors awards during his senior year. His choice to pursue a post-secondary education at the University of Wyoming is based on his desire to become an improved citizen of society.

Autumn Kiefer
Autumn is the daughter of Kevin and Becky Kiefer
Autumn is an accomplished young lady in the agricultural world of the North Fork, and supplemented her high school career by taking classes at the technical college in nearby Delta. Her teachers describe her as determined and wise and she has juggled many extracurricular activities alongside her academic achievements.
With an impressive 4-H career under her belt, she has many accolades in horsemanship and other fair projects. She has also been very active in the Future Farmers of America where she has shown a great interest in agricultural leadership.
Autumn served as a student council representative and treasurer and, as a senior, also held the title of media reporter for the executive student council.
She played volleyball for three years running and basketball for each of the four years that she attended high school, lettering in basketball during her sophomore, junior and senior year.
Having had interest in a career in health for some time, Autumn took it upon herself to attend the Technical College of the Rockies during the mornings of her senior year where she took classes as a medical assistant, and then drove back to Hotchkiss each day to finish the day at North Fork High School. She has been accepted into the surgical technician program at Utah State University where she will pursue an Associate of Applied Science degree.
